A COMPACT DISK DISCLOSES THE TRUE FATHER

OF OUR FILM ANIMATION

The grandson of Dimitar Todorov -Jarava - compiles facts from the life, the paintings and the films of his now half-forgotten grandfather in a CD-ROM

Violetta TSVETKOVA

Who is the real father of Bulgarian animation? You will find this if you get the new compact disk, dedicated to Dimitar Dimitrov - Jarava. Many have already discovered for themselves the art of this, somewhat forgotten, painter and film maker at the promotion of the new CD-ROM in the "Festinvest" gallery on "Tsar Ivan Assen II" Str. The hall hosts some of the best works from the creative biography of Jarava, painted between 1956 and 1987.

Dimitar Todorov is practically unknown to the younger generations, but has now been resurrected to the life of the living thanks to the effort of his grandson, Lazar Tonov - author of the compact disk. Todorov has been reacknowledged, most of all, as the father of Bulgarian film animation and we now know that it was he, who 50 years ago placed the foundations of, what would later become, the Studio for Multiplication Films with Bulgarian Cinematography. It has also been 60 years since he got his patent called "New cinematographic film" and 45 years from the making of the first Bulgarian color animation film -" The Forest Republic". Friends and relatives of the artist also commemorated the tenth anniversary of his death.

"The Forest Republic" is only a part of all that our first art compact disk contains. Lazar Tonov has also loaded the electronic carrier with data on the biography of his talented grandfather, as well as pictures from the oil, water and tempera paintings from the collection of Dimitar Todorov - Jarava.

On the PC monitor and over the background of "Moon sonata", pieces from Evergreens one can see in color what has become the property of many art collectors all over the World. Due to the extensive contacts Tonov has with such collectors, only several days ago a Swedish art gallery opened a site on the Internet, dedicated to the life and works of Dimitar Todorov - Jarava.
